Plymouth Science Park

By |

The South West Business Council (SWBC) recently supported their member, Plymouth Science Park, to secure valuable partnerships, business opportunities and expand the reach of their services, through events and strategic introductions.

Plymouth Science Park is a non-profit joint venture between Plymouth City Council and the University of Plymouth, serving as a leading regional hub for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). With a history spanning 25 years, the Park offers state-of-the-art facilities to businesses in the STEM sector.

SWBC facilitated a number of key introductions for Plymouth Science Park, to help them welcome new tenants and increase the number of regional organisations benefiting from their specialist facilities. Their introduction to Altilium Group, led to them welcoming the team as new tenants at the Park.

SWBC also enabled an introduction with the NHS Health Service in Gloucester. From this meeting, a tour of the Park was arranged, along with neighbouring organisations. This led to several new opportunities for the Gloucester Health Service’s development of a knowledge partnership with connections in South East Asia.

Additionally, SWBC coordinated a meeting for Plymouth Science Park with Eurotech House Developers, the creators of a new innovation hub in Plymouth. This resulted in an arrangement which gave hub members access to the Park’s specialist equipment, including the Digital Reverse Engineering and Metrology (DREAM) facility, funded by the Heart of the South West LEP. By accessing Plymouth Science Park’s specialist facilities, hub members are provided with access to cutting-edge equipment to enhance the quality of their work, and increase productivity.

As a member of the South West Business Council, Plymouth Science Park also benefits from regular networking events, which lead to opportunities to connect with C-Suite decision-makers within high-growth, high-value regional businesses that can benefit from what the Park has to offer.

Ian McFadzen, CEO at Plymouth Science Park, said: “SWBC offers Plymouth Science Park valuable insights into the decisions made in Westminster that impact the Great South West. This perspective extends beyond Plymouth, providing our organisation with a more comprehensive understanding of the regional business and innovation landscape.

“SWBC’s strategic introductions have been instrumental in establishing connections that have opened up new avenues for collaboration and partnerships at the Park. The networking events organised by SWBC fast-track us to connecting with decision-makers and influencers with an interest in catalysing innovative initiatives in the region.”

Paul Coles, CEO of the South West Business Council, said: “We highly value our relationship with Plymouth Science Park, and remain committed to working alongside them to support the delivery of high-quality innovation in the South West.

“SWBC aims to provide opportunities that encourage economic growth within the region. By offering business intelligence to organisations like Plymouth Science Park, who operate at the forefront of innovation, we can contribute to the region’s capabilities within a global network, by helping to forge connections that drive revolutionary projects forward.”
