Supporting South West Employers with their work experience offers and finding the right students

By | |

HALF-TERM week marked a historic moment for the charity Speakers for Schools which delivered more work experience for young people in just one week, than it did in the whole of the last academic year.

Growing at an exponential rate, the charity opened the eyes of some 4000 young people to the world of work last week, through its new Virtual Experience Programme. Speakers for Schools CEO Jason Elsom said: “Three times as many young people felt confident about their future possibilities in the world of work than they did (before half-term). That is impact in action and entirely what we are here for.”

Speakers for Schools can help employers create bespoke and insightful work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for schools, colleges or universities and promote their offers to all student establishments nationwide via its unique portal helping employers find the ‘best fit’ for thier placements. It has a growing marketplace of eager young people seeking meaningful work experiences.

Its mission is to level the playing field for young people making sure they all have access to inspiring speakers and employers helping to provide the inspiration and experience they need to fuel their ambition.

Speakers for Schools is teaming up with Britain’s most technology focused employers to tackle the unemployment crisis and future-proof the next generation in a post-COVID economy. Artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, quantum computing, and other technological advances will mean that young people will live very different lives to the ones they can currently imagine.

This June (21-25), Speakers for Schools will launch Predict: Future Careers 2021 campaign to shine a light on the opportunities that technology can bring. Innovation is integral to every sector and industry and young people will discover the way in which technology will increasingly weave through their work and personal life, and the importance of technology in many roles which they may consider in their career, whether or not they aspire to work in the tech sector, green industry, law, fashion, art, finance or construction.

By working alongside leading employers and start-ups, this campaign will introduce young people to the varied ‘tech accelerated’ roles and expose them to employers and careers they may not have considered or knew existed. If you are an influential employers and speaker specialising in coding, cyber- security, augmented reality, digital fashion, sustainable food, fintech and more, and would like to get involved with its Predict Campaign Speakers for School would like to hear from you. Technology is rapidly transforming the way we live and work and Covid-19 has accelerated the delivery of unprecedented change across industries, which would not have survived without adapting.
