Lovers of ska music are being urged to book tickets early to avoid disappointment for a fantastic night of entertainment at the Keay Theatre in St Austell.
Held on the 23rd May, the one off ska-themed night called ‘Rude on a Weekday’ will feature one of Cornwall’s most loved ska bands ‘The Mighty Offbeats’ plus upcoming young bands ‘The Skaffolds’ and ‘The Trumpeets’.
‘Lost In Space’ are also set to provide a madcap mix of funky ska, retro grooves and gypsy stomp and with more artists still to be announced.
Cornwall College Music Student, Delilah Prov said “this is an exciting event for us to be able to perform alongside popular local bands such as the ‘Mighty Off-Beats’ and showcase what we have been working on over the past year.”
Music Lecturer, Laura Philpott said music students at the college have done some incredible work this year.
“They have performed at various theatres with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, helped raise over £2000 for Cornwall Hospice Care through charity concerts, played at theatres such as Plymouth Pavilions and gigged at many local pubs and clubs,” she explained.
“Alongside the performance aspect of their course, second year Music students are responsible for every aspect of organising ‘Rude on a Weekday’ from lighting to advertisement.”
South West Bars and Events will be running a licensed bar on the night.
The gig is from 7.30pm to 11pm and tickets are £6 cash only on the door or call 01726 225454 to book in advance, which is advised.
