Petroc is delighted to announce that it is in the top 20% in the country when it comes to value added at A-level, according to the highly-regarded data analysis body, Alps.
Alps looks at the A-level performance of 2,817 schools and colleges across the UK, analysing the progress made by each student based on the GCSE grades they join with and their final A-level grade.
Alps uses a ‘3-year T score’ to measure the extent to which students’ A-level results exceed expectations based on their prior achievements. Petroc’s ‘3-year T score’ is 3.56 which puts Petroc within the top 20% of the Alps national benchmark.
Alison Knight, Department Manager for Arts and Science, said: “Our A-level results in 2018 were exceptional, and we were proud to achieve a 99% pass rate for the seventh consecutive year.
“However, it is recognition like this that tells the full story. Being in the top 20% for how much value we add to our students, enabling them to achieve far beyond their expectations and predictions, really reflects what we’re all about at Petroc,” said Alison.
“Our A-level staff members are extremely passionate about ensuring our students reach their full potential and we encourage them to dream big and support them to achieve their goals and ambitions, whether that’s gaining a place at a leading university, securing a top apprenticeship or gaining employment in a highly-competitive industry,” she added.
Mary Ahern, CEO of Alps, said in her letter to the college: “This is a fantastic effort and well worth celebrating, keep up the good work.”
This news comes just months after Petroc announced that it has ranked number one in the prestigious NICDEX league table published by FE Week. The college was scored on employer satisfaction, positive progression, adult progression and learner satisfaction, and achieved an impressive 36 out of a possible 40, making it the top FE college in the country.
