Outstanding employment success for Adventure Sports students

Adventure Sports students at Duchy College are celebrating after all securing jobs at the end of their course.

Adventure Sport lecturer, Rebecca Ball, said it was “fantastic news” for all the students.

“The course teaches learners a range of core skills in delivery and leadership in adventure sports,” Rebecca continued.

“It prepares them for the first step of getting on the ladder and getting a job. I would say to any potential student, if you have an interest in the outdoors after this course you have a good chance of being in employment.”

Danny Bain has accepted a job at Adventure International as a Multi-Activity Outdoor Instructor.

“Adventure Sport was a fantastic course I feel I learnt a lot of skills in outdoor activities and instructing them, moreover I was offered a job at Adventure International,” he said.

“I am going to be instructing in Bude living next to the beach and it’s amazing. I would definitely recommend the outdoor pursuit course.”

Fellow student, Lilly McGowan, is going to be working for PGL in the South of France.

“The two years I’ve spent on the Adventure Sport course at Duchy have given me an excellent foundation of skills and knowledge,” she explained.

“The qualifications I gained and the links with employers that the college have, gave me this fantastic opportunity to start my career within the Outdoor Adventure industry.”

Other students have gained employment at Adventure International, PGL Ltd and Adrenalin Quarry.

Team Lead for Sport at Duchy College, Neil Harris, said it was a “fantastic achievement by all of our students”.

“This highlights how we are a careers college; ensuring our learners learn all the skills to make them industry ready to go straight into employment once they have completed their training with us,” he added.
