Exeter Science Park companies had the opportunity to demonstrate cutting-edge technology and innovations during a visit by Sarah Jones MP, Minister for Industry.

The visit provided a platform for showcasing the park’s dynamic contributions to the UK’s STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine) ecosystem.

Ms Jones, who is Minister of State for Industry at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Department for Business and Trade, was in the area to attend the Great South West Annual Conference at Sandy Park.

During her visit to the Science Park she engaged with several high-tech companies, including Zeal Hotels, Oxi-Tech, Vivax Metrotech, Theta Technologies, and Attomarker, businesses which are all at the forefront of technological innovation, leveraging advances in sectors such as clean technology, digital infrastructure, and medical diagnostics. Their presence at Exeter Science Park underscores the park’s role as a catalyst for technological progress and economic growth.

Sally Basker, chief executive of Exeter Science Park, said: “The opportunity to host Sarah Jones MP was invaluable, allowing us to present just a small selection of the companies delivering groundbreaking work from their Exeter Science Park labs and offices. These innovations are helping to shape the future of industries and improving lives through technological advancement.

“This visit also enabled us to discuss the broader impact of Exeter Science Park, as we continue to expand our vibrant STEMM community in the South West, fostering innovation and collaboration.”

Representatives of the businesses gave short presentations and were able to directly appeal to the minister for support in areas such as greater investment in the south west, financial support for export and growth activities and greater Innovate UK support, especially for early stage businesses and start-ups.

Exeter Science Park, which employs around 700 people across various high-growth businesses, contributes £48.5 million GVA to the regional economy annually.
