Beauty & Hair students from Cornwall College St Austell have returned from a hair raising trip to London where they attended the leading beauty trade show in Europe, along with a trip to the London Wella studios.
Students were able to watch demonstrations, learn what the latest trends are across the sector and buy retail goods at discounted prices both at the Professional Beauty Show at the ExCel arena and at Wella.
Fran Clapham, Team Lead for Hair & Beauty at St Austell Campus, said the event “was a successful trip for everyone. We take our beauty students to the show every year, but this year we managed to tie-in an extra trip for our Hairdressing students at the Wella Studios.”
The Wella Professionals Creative team in London are renowned for their technical Innovation and inspirational cutting and movement techniques. The Hairdressing students got to join the team for a creative seminar demonstrating the latest in Cut and Colour technology.
Beauty student, Emma Nicholas who is studying Level 2 Beauty Therapy, alongside raising her three children said she’d never have imagined the size of the show;
“We had a fleeting 24 hours in London and it was quite full on but I loved every minute of it and it really opened my eyes to the opportunities within the beauty industry.”
Katie Walker is in her final year of her Hairdressing Training and when she completes in two months will be a full time member of Johns Hair Studio in Tywardreath, she said;
“Visiting the Wella studio was like I’d ever experienced before, we watched four fantastic demos by top Wella stylists and then had a look around some of the Selfridge Salons – they were unbelievable and around 3-4 times the prince of a hair cut in Cornwall!”
Fran added “this trip really was a good opportunity for the students to gain a wider knowledge of products, equipment and new techniques being used in the hair and beauty industry – we look forward to going again next year.”
