A Cornish student is celebrating after earning a work experience placement at an award winning luxury manor located on the edge of Dartmoor.
Level 2 Professional Cookery student at Cornwall College St Austell, Hope Webster, is “thrilled” to have been accepted on a week’s work experience at Gidleigh Park in Devon.
“I emailed my CV and covering letter to the Head Chef at Glidleigh Park, Chris Eden, and had an immediate response back saying they would love to have me in for some work experience in their pastry kitchen, “Hope explained.
“I am really excited, it is an amazing opportunity in such a brilliant place,” Hope continued.
“I expect them to have a very high standard there which will mean that I am challenged which will be really good for me. I’m also interested in the produce they use as I understand they grown their own.”
Hope said she was surprised to have been able to secure such a prestigious work experience placement, but praised her course for helping he achieve.
“It is a fantastic course here at Cornwall College St Austell, I would definitely recommend it to other students looking to get into the industry,” she added.
Team Lead for Professional Cookery at Cornwall College St Austell, Steve Rudd, said Hope has “really made the most of her opportunities here within her studies.”
“Now she has made a brave move to enter work experience at the highly acclaimed Gidleigh Park, she really will thrive in that environment. I know Chris Eden and the team at Gidleigh will have a huge impact on Hope and in return they will be gaining a hard, working, dedicated and talented learner.”
