DIGITAL EDUCATION EXPERTS JOIN EXETER SCIENCE PARK COMMUNITY

Exeter Science Park has welcomed the latest business to its community – pioneering thought-leadership platform and website FE News.

The online news site and digital publishing platform, which focuses on further education, apprenticeship/work-based learning, and employability, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. It will be taking an office in the Science Park Centre.

Gavin O’Meara, chief executive and founder of FE News, said: “We’re looking forward to joining the community at Exeter Science Park. As a technology-based service, we believe this is the perfect location for us and we’re keen to be part of this knowledge-focused community.

“We have been made welcome by everyone, not just the Science Park team, but by fellow founders and tech organisations. It is a very cool environment and we already feel at home.

“I’m looking forward to making more friends at the Park and sharing in their successes on our joint tech journeys. The additional support at the Science Park is really exciting, especially for me to meet with fellow founders, who may work in different fields of tech, but share similar challenges and opportunities. Being a founder can be a bit lonely at times and knowing the park is chocked full of fellow founders also pushing the boundaries is really exciting.”

Gavin added: “The incubator support at the Science Park is also a massive bonus, we didn’t have this sort of support when we launched 20 years ago and I always sort of felt like I missed out a bit, so I will definitely be exploring this more. Joining the Science Park feels like a fantastic next step in our journey and a really exciting new chapter for FE News.”

FE News was founded in 2003 as a digital platform for positive sector-building news and is a knowledge transfer platform for thought leaders and influencers.

It publishes more than 250 pieces of content every week – from influential thought leadership articles to livestreams, podcasts, award-winning radio shows, press releases, and sector reaction pieces.

Jason Buck, senior business development manager at Exeter Science Park, said: “FE News is a true pioneer in its field. The company has grown and developed as technology has moved on over the last 20 years and today is instrumental in the future of work and employability. I fully anticipate that their skills knowledge and insight could be helpful for our tenants as part of the wider ecosystem at the park.

“The team will be utilising the high-quality space in the Science Park Centre to deliver its radio shows, podcasts and webinars, as well as the extensive range of activity they deliver in relation to Ed-Tech, employability and future of work. They are also planning a number of in person events at the park which will attract influential industry leaders in skills and education sectors.”
