Cyber Crime in Devon and Cornwall – Introducing your Local Cyber Protect Officers

By | |

The impact of cybercrime on a business can be devastating.  How prepared are you?

Devon and Cornwall Police have two Cyber Protect Officers, who provide free Cyber Crime presentations and training sessions to businesses, organisations and your community.

Laura Cowie is based in Devon and has been in the Cyber Protect role since January 2017 after moving from her previous post within the South West Counter Terrorism Unit.  She is a strong advocate of raising awareness of the growing threat of Cyber Crime and has been helping organisations and businesses achieve this across Devon and Cornwall over the past two years.

Grahame Mace is based in Cornwall and has recently joined the team. He brings a vast range of knowledge with him from his previous post as Detective Inspector in the City of London Police. Grahame has many years of experience investigating and dealing with Fraud and Cyber Crime, at both Local and National level. He led the Cyber teams within NFIB (National Fraud Intelligence Bureau), whilst working alongside the Triage, Incident, Coordination and Tasking team (TICAT) within the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) part of the NCA.

Laura and Grahame’s role is to protect members of the public and business from becoming victims of Cyber Crime. During the past twelve months they have spoken to approximately 5,500 people at presentations they have delivered. Their ethos is to try and explain in simple terms, how to stay safe online.

Whether you own a business or are part of an organisation or community group, they can provide:

  • Presentations and seminars
  • Training and workshops
  • Cyber-attack simulation and exercising  – Decisions and Disruptions (Lego) / NCSC Exercise in a Box
