The Institute of Legal and Financial Management (ILFM) has presented a national award to Peter Adams, head of the accounts department at Plymouth law firm, GA Solicitors.
The ILFM’s Wilfred Owen Award recognises the individual who achieves the highest mark in its professional associate level examination for financial management. The coveted award was presented to Peter in London at the ILFM’s annual ceremony last night (19th September).
Peter has extensive experience in the financial legal sector having worked at a national law firm for 19 years before moving to GA Solicitors in 2015. He heads up GA’s financial team overseeing all transactions and ensuring the firm adheres to strict regulations enforced by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Stephen Ramsden, managing partner of GA Solicitors commented: “Peter is a valuable member of our team and has an incredibly important role within the firm. His work ethic and dedication are without doubt. Achieving the highest mark in the country is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work he applies to every challenge.
“Within GA we have a strong ethos in regards to supporting our staff and providing them with the tools they need to progress their careers and hone their skills. We were pleased to have supported Peter with this qualification and will continue to offer the same level of support to all employees of the firm.”
Talking of his award, Peter Adams added: “Moving to GA from a large-scale national firm was very refreshing. The partners are very keen to develop the skills of staff at all levels and provide them with the support they need to fulfil their potential. I was able to take advantage of this in regards to the ILFM associate qualification and am thrilled to have not only passed, but to have secured the highest pass rate of anyone in the country.
“The event in London was fantastic and it was very humbling to be recognised in such a manner by my peers in the financial sector.”
With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is a leading Plymouth law firm with 79 members of staff offering guidance across seven specialist departments: business; family; employment; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.
