Virtual College Open Day highlights ingenuity and opportunity in lockdown

By | |

Cornwall College St Austell is hosting a virtual open day for all 16-18 school leavers on Thursday 14th May 5-7pm.

Hosted online, prospective learners and their families can learn more about the wide range of full time courses on offer at the local college, as well as learning about some of the new programmes for September 2020 including Childcare, Health & Social Care and Business.

Potential students will receive a welcome from the Head of College and course tutors will be sharing information about the courses available and the support potential students can expect to receive.

Visitors to the online event will have the opportunity to ask questions through the live chat function.

Head of Cornwall College St Austell, Mark Wardle, said he is “delighted to be able to offer the virtual open event to prospective students.”

“These are unprecedented times and we have risen to the challenge by providing a virtual platform for people to explore the amazing opportunities on their doorstep,” he continued.

“Please join us to find out about all the exciting opportunities we have at St Austell for September and find out about how you can get the qualifications, industry experience and personal skills you need to build the career you want.”

The College boasts a stunning new student social area, The Space. The multi-functional area helps students balance their studies with some deserved downtime. Furnished with lounge seating, a chill-out room to watch DVDs, a pool table, a dart board, and multiple video games consoles, it is a place for students to be themselves, relax and have fun with their friends.

The St Austell Campus boasts industry-standard training facilities including hair and beauty salons, a state-of-the-art training kitchen, and a construction skills training centre providing the local community with all the experiences and skills necessary for excelling in their careers.

“The Cornwall College Group is going form strength-to-strength,” Mark continued.

“We have a near unrivalled number of Ofsted Inspectors in our senior team so we understand what a quality learner experience looks like.”

“There is also a commitment to investing in fantastic facilities for learners so they can gain the industry-relevant qualifications they need to embark on a successful career or move onto university-level study if they wish.”

One of the exciting developments is a new partnership with Cornwall Care that boasts training facilities, classrooms and on-the-job training for those wanting a career in caring or people wanting to upskill in an existing role.

The full course offering at St Austell campus includes; Acting, Apprenticeships, Art & Design, Business, Catering & Hospitality, Childcare, Construction Trades, Dance, Engineering, Games Design, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, I.T, Photography, Media, Motor Vehicle, Music, Travel & Tourism and Vocational & Work-related Studies, not to mention Access to Higher Education and Adult Leisure courses.
