UNLOCK YOUR LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL WITH HELP TO GROW: MANAGEMENT AT UNIVERSITY OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE

By | |

The September 2024 cohort of Help to Grow: Management at University of Gloucestershire is now open for registration.

Business leaders from across the county can take advantage of government funding for this transformative learning experience, covering 90% of the cost of taking part. Participants benefit from 50 hours of leadership training over 12 weeks, 10 hours of 1-2-1 mentoring, peer-group sessions to discuss challenges and opportunities with fellow business leaders, and access to a valuable alumni network.

Over 140 Gloucestershire business leaders have already completed this programme, including Rixon Architects in Cirencester, and Helipebs Controls based in Gloucester, who have shared their experience of the programme.

Jonathan Rixon, Director of Rixon Architects, said:

“Help to Grow: Management at University of Gloucestershire allowed me to ‘zoom out’ and see that I was the log-jam in some of the decision-making processes. Allowing the team the power and the freedom to make their own decisions and trust them really helped the business run. The course forced me to stand outside the business and see those opportunities you just can’t see in the day to day, it’s really recommended”

Help to Grow: Management course tutor, Andy Kime, has seen first-hand how leaders grow over the programme:

“Seeing these leaders give dedicated time to both their personal and professional development is really inspiring. Each and every one has grown in confidence, ability and motivation”

Andy also delivers the peer-group sessions that run alongside the weekly sessions. Andy commented:

“The peer-group sessions are a bit of a hidden gem. In the smaller relaxed group setting people really start to open up and that’s where the magic happens. They see how their peers are facing the same challenges and opportunities, and in that group setting they can start to discuss it, work on it as a group, and find new perspectives through the connections”

On those connections made on the course, Victoria Hayward, Director of Helipebs Controls, said:

It’s been a fantastic experience, especially having all the other local companies that have been involved. It gives you a really great view with different takes on situations. I personally have picked up lots of tips from other people on the course and have bought their ideas back to the company which was fantastic”

Reflecting on her time on the programme Victoria added:

“Why would you not join the next Help to Grow: Management course at University of Gloucestershire? You have absolutely nothing to lose, you have a massive amount to gain. I am sure you will make some great contacts and colleagues on the way as you go, so really there is no reason why you wouldn’t join, and I would tell everybody: yes, go and do it!”

The 12 weekly sessions are delivered over eight online meetings and four in-person. The in-person sessions take place at the Gloucestershire Business School on Oxstalls campus.
