Summer never felt so satisfying for more than 3,000 people as they sampled the tastes, explored the Stoke Climsland countryside and enjoyed an ice cream.
This year’s Duchy College Open Day and Summer Food Festival was a fun-filled extravaganza, which saw families from as far afield as Wales join in the free activities and indulge in some of the finest locally produced food and drink.
Head of Site at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, Rob Dunn, said the day was “fantastic”.
“There has been lots of smiling faces and people enjoying the taste and smells from some outstanding local suppliers,” he continued.
“Our students and staff have played key roles, acting as ambassadors and really showing our visitors the wealth of opportunities available at Duchy College.”
Visitors to the campus at Stoke Climsland were able to enjoy a multitude of activities, including digger driving challenges, equine displays, reptile encounters, tractor tours, rifle range, archery, climbing and much more.
Sarah Broome commented, “We have had an absolutely wonderful day. There is so much to see and do, it’s one of our favorite days out of the year.”
With equine displays, a fun dog show and a display of vintage tractors, the crowds were entertained for hours while exploring the College that provides both full- and part-time courses, including university courses, in agriculture, animal management, childcare, game keeping, equine studies, food, construction plant, outdoor pursuits, public services, sport and skills for life.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that came and visited us,” Rob continued.
“It’s a real delight to see so many happy faces enjoying everything that we can offer, topped off with some fantastic weather. We are already planning for next year’s event and we’ll see how we can make it bigger and better.”
