Student musicians are to set the tone for their first gig of the year on Tuesday 27th November at St Austell Band Club.
All music students from Cornwall College St Austell will be performing, and the evening will feature a range of bands, showcasing an array of ensembles from the first and second year students.
Entrance to the performance is only £2 on the door and starts at 8pm.
Music Student Delilah Prové said the St Austell Band Club gigs enables students to showcase what they have been working on since the beginning of the academic year.
“It helps us develop our performance skills that are essential for music in a real life situation,” she added.
The evening will include the recently formed student band ‘The Skafolds’ who, as the name suggests, will be performing a collection of Ska songs.
The night has a focus on Ska music, as both first and second year students have been exploring this genre this term.
Music Lecturer Laura Philpott said the department promotes and encourages active participation within music, “both inside and outside of the classroom”.
“We believe in creating and supporting valuable opportunities and real life experiences for our students, in order for them to become self-sufficient and confident musicians who are industry ready,” she explained.
“Many of our alumni have become successful session musicians, tour managers and touring musicians thanks to gaining initial confidence on their BTEC course.”
