RIP Michael Dunn

By | |

“It is with great sadness that South West Business Council has learnt of the death of Michael Dunn. Michael, apart from being a great friend to many of the Council’s Board of Directors, was a huge figure in the regional business community.

He was a passionate supporter of the Business Council and provided very high levels of input to inform SWBC on matters relating to technology, IT and Data. Mike’s role as a Senior Director for BT marked the pinnacle of a great career. His jewel in the South West crown was the work he did at Goonhilly Earth Station. Mike led the transfer of this facility in 2014 from BT to Goonhilly Earth Station GES Ltd. As a result of this, the station developed a wide range of new operational and functional activities including the development of a centre of technical excellence, the creation of a technology park and the establishment of a visitor centre proposition. This also led to building strong links with Higher Education institutions and also for developing the sites potential for renewable energy.

Mike will be sorely missed. The region and the South West Business Council owe him a huge debt of gratitude. Our sympathies also to his family, particularly his wife Lynne, who was a great supporter of his numerous business roles.”

Tim Jones, SWBC Chairman
