Petroc’s new BA Honours in Human Behavioural Studies opens doors to a wide range of careers

By | |

Petroc is delighted to receive the news that its fifth Honours Degree pathway has been validated by the University of Plymouth.

The new award – BA (Honours) Human Behavioural Studies – will be the ‘top-up’ route for the Foundation Degree in Psychological Studies, and means that learners can complete another full degree right here in North Devon.

This course will join the BA (Honours) programmes in Creative Industries, Health and Social Care, Childhood Studies and Business and Management, as well as over 40 full and part-time degrees that are on offer at the college.

The new BA Honours programme is perfect for students already studying at university-level at Petroc, who are unable to travel any significant distance to complete their final stage of undergraduate study.

The degree will prepare students for work in a wide range of occupations, including social work, health, education, human resources and probation.

Craig Litster, Assistant Principal for Academic Studies, said: “Our Higher Education provision here at Petroc is going from strength to strength, and it’s always really exciting to expand our provision, giving even more local people the opportunity to study at a university-level without leaving the area.”

Laura West-Burnham, Head of Faculty, said: “I’m delighted that the successful and well-established Psychological Studies Foundation Degree team are now able to offer their learners an exciting, and professionally relevant, opportunity to complete a full Honours qualification locally.”

Students who have achieved a relevant Foundation Degree, such as the FdSc Psychological Studies awarded by the University of Plymouth, will be able to join the new programme from September 2019 to complete their studies.
