New generation of Electric Vehicle experts

By | |

Dozens of EV engineers and mechanics have been trained this year.

A whole new generation of electric vehicle (EV) technicians is ready to take on the industry, thanks to the innovative training courses at Cornwall College.

So far, more than one hundred EV students at the College’s Camborne campus have been equipped with the skills and knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicles, helping to meet the rising demand in the EV industry.

For head of campus Luke Bazeley, the ongoing success of the EV training demonstrates “the College’s commitment to shaping the future of the industry.”

“We’re thrilled to lead in EV training and proud of the achievements of our students and members of staff. Their hard work, dedication and commitment to learning have positioned them for success in this thriving sector,” continued Luke.

Since September 2022, Cornwall College campuses in Camborne and St Austell, both part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), have been offering comprehensive EV courses, positioning themselves at the forefront of EV training in the region.

The exceptional quality of the program has garnered widespread attention, attracting both local and national media coverage, including a feature on BBC TWO’s documentary presented by the renowned presenter Simon Reeve.

As the academic year draws to a close, the College takes immense pride in congratulating and celebrating the newly qualified Electric Vehicle mechanics and engineers.

Luke continued: “We look forward to welcoming the next cohort in September, to train more talented EV engineers and mechanics of the future, and help sustain development of Cornwall’s workforce and the broader green economy.”
