LED teams up with Wellity to encourage more kids to Get Active, with some great prizes up for grabs!

By | |

On 1st October LED Leisure is launching a new pay-as-you-go card for children aged 8-15, to encourage them to keep active via a range of sports and classes at LED Centres across East Devon and South Somerset. LED understands the importance of keeping kids active – not just to improve their physical well-being, but also to support mental development.

As a charitable trust, LED prides itself on being at the heart of the community, offering something for everyone. The new Get Active card can be used to book and pay for any junior pay-as-you-go activities, including general swimming, Funsplash, Teen Gym, Teen Circuits, Teen bounce, Tennis, Badminton, Squash – there are a wide range of junior activities available across the Centres.

To get started, the card needs to be purchased in an LED centre. The minimum credit on the account is £25 and the child receives their very own Get Active swipe card. The Get Active card can be topped up in an LED Centre, online or via the App, by the child’s parent or carer.

LED’s Area Manager Tarida Mitcham said: “We understand that not everyone wants to have a monthly membership and we want to make keeping active as accessible as possible. We’re running a competition in October at each of our centres – to WIN a FREE £25 Get Active card! Parents should visit their local LED Centre Facebook page to enter the competition, to try and win a card for their child.”

To help raise awareness of the card, LED are partnering with Wellity – “the brand of a healthy lifestyle”. Wellity Active, the sports and activewear company, is the brainchild of three Devon school children. It was originally started to fight childhood obesity, as their mission is to encourage everyone to look good and feel great through active living and increased body confidence. www.wellityactive.co.uk

Molly Scott-Nelson (13) of Wellity says “An idea we once had to get more children active has now become a reality. We want people to say more with what they wear, to start a conversation and be more confident in themselves. After all, healthy looks different on every body and if Wellity can inspire just one person to get more active, then we have succeeded. Everyone can follow our journey with LED on all social media @WellityActive.”

Everyone who buys a Get Active card during October will be entered in a prize draw to win a Wellity t-shirt of their choice. There is one t-shirt up for grabs at each LED Centre. Wellity are also offering a 10% discount to LED members until the end of the year.

Keeping active is so important for people of all ages and abilities and LED hopes that by making it easy, with the flexibility of the new Get Active card, they will be able to encourage 8-15 years olds to develop an active habit for life.
