FSB Cornwall Open “School for Small Businesses”

By | |

On Wednesday 19 September, St Austell Conference Centre will become the “FSB School for Small Businesses” for the day. Creating a modern “Hogwarts” for business people, FSB are adding some entrepreneurial magic and sparkle by offering 15 professionally tutored, hour long, masterclasses (equating to 300 places for small businesses) to come and learn new business skills and make new contacts, all on one day.

Bodmin business man and Chairman of the FSB South West Region, Roger Tarrant said;

Our members tell us that working on their own business skills can be difficult to fit in when they are busy running their businesses. Our school day offers flexible, affordable options and there’s something for everyone. Subjects include; Tax Breaks for SMEs, Business Planning, Cash-flow, Fixing Retail Problems, Marketing, Management Skills, Taking on Employees, Doing Business Digitally (inc. social media), Save Money by being Green, Funding/Finance & Investor Ready and How to Sell. All of which are important topics that business owners attending can master quickly and conveniently. They can also make good connections with people who can help them in the future which covers that other big question of, who can help me? ”

To maximise benefit, each practical class is limited to 20 people and cost just £8 each, just to help cover costs. This is a completely flexible day – business owners (or would-be entrepreneurs) can book individual classes, stay all day or even just come for the networking lunch (just £8 also) or the free *open-house networking at the end of the day. It is designed for busy business people to pick the bits they want and to come and go as they need to.

Business owners (or those thinking of starting up an enterprise) will also have ample opportunities to network with new contacts as they switch from one class to another and during each new class. As is usual at such events, businesses also learn from each other so the FSB have made sure that there is time built in for that important engagement too. Of course there will be refreshments throughout the day as they expect a lot of talking to be going on!

Whatever stage your business is at, FSB are offering a cost-effective and flexible way to get the edge on the competition and make some new connections. For more details you can find the event by searching on Eventbrite or by contacting our event administrator [email protected].

* From 5pm to 6.30pm: Businesses have the opportunity to stay on and attend the Cornish Partnerships Open House Networking event – a chance to chat to even more new people, give out business cards and make more useful contacts. No need to book for attendees of this FSB event but if attending the open house networking only please book direct with www.cornishpartnerships.co.uk
