Exeter Airport Managing Director Matt Roach has joined the Advisory Board of the South West Business Council (SWBC), the regional economic partnership for the South West.
The Advisory Board helps shape SWBC’s thinking and key strategic priorities, which include infrastructure, education and skills, and enterprise and innovation. Its membership is drawn from organisations and business groups from across the region.
Speaking about his appointment, Matt said: “SWBC provides a unified voice to represent the interests of businesses across the region at national and international level, so I’m delighted to be joining the Advisory Board. We see the airport as not only a critical component of the region’s transport infrastructure but also as a place which brings together business people and organisations and via connectivity is a catalyst for significant economic benefit. Our growing route network is delivering increased opportunities and development and I look forward to using my experience to strengthen our region’s ties while connecting our businesses to a global marketplace.”
SWBC Chairman Tim Jones added: “Matt brings considerable transport skills to our Advisory Board and will help SWBC to develop more commercial, employment and investment opportunities with regions in the UK and overseas. Exeter Airport is already involved in UK trade missions and is actively developing international hubs like Paris and Amsterdam. We want to harness those links to create new opportunities for businesses across our region.”
Matt Roach has been managing director of Exeter Airport since 2011. He sits on the Boards of Exeter College and Exeter Chamber of Commerce, and as a qualified chartered accountant is a member of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) South West Strategy Board.
