Date:
20/09/2018

TIME: 5:45 pm — 9:00 pm
VENUE: PL1 Restaurant, City College, Kings Road, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 5QG
PRESENTED BY: City College Plymouth

Local businesses are invited to dine, debate and deliberate on the south west’s rail infrastructure issues at City College Plymouth’s next Talking Business @ PL1.

Run in partnership with the Herald, ‘Rail Infrastructure: Are We ‘All Aboard’?’ will discuss the limitations and planned developments of the south west’s rail links and the impact that this has on our local businesses.

Leading the discussion will be guest speakers: Richard Stevens, Chairman of the Peninsular Rail Task Force Stakeholder Group, Managing Director – Plymouth Citybus and Chairman of the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce; Matthew Barnes, Regional Development Manager (West) – Great Western Railway; and Tudor Evans, Leader of Plymouth City Council.

Pauline Hands, Director of Marketing, Business Engagement and Enterprise at the College, said: “The south west’s rail links made national headlines when they were washed into the sea during the great storms which battered our coast in early 2014. Although the railway has been repaired, the impact is still being felt by our businesses and those trying to develop the region as a significant business and industrial hub. What plans are in place to prevent this kind of disaster happening again? And what can be done to reassure potential investors for the region? All this and more will be discussed and debated at our September Talking Business event.”

Hosted by the BBC’s David Fitzgerald, Talking Business @ PL1 is taking place on Thursday 20 September, 5.45pm to 9.00pm. The evening of questions and good food costs £17.50 per person, including a two-course meal with wine. Book and pay online at onlinestore.cityplym.ac.uk.
