The University of Plymouth is hosting the Secure South West 2022 on Wednesday 23rd March.
This year’s theme is cyber security skills and new blood. It will be a live face-to-face, full day event with over 100 attendees, plus a virtual option for those wishing to join us online.

The South West Cyber Security Cluster is pleased to announce Secure South West, now in its 15th conference iteration and continuing to grow in stature. Erika Lewis, DCMS Director of Cyber Security and Digital Identity will keynote the event in person. This year DCMS (Government Department for Culture Media and Sport) has stepped in to become the lead sponsor for this event, as part of their £2.6Bn National Cyber Strategy.
This year’s theme is cyber security skills and new blood. The event focusses on skills development and youth engagement for cyber security, providing a uniquely inspirational opportunity for industry, further and higher education and training and recruitment organisations to come together to strengthen the SW as a place to base safe online businesses.
Erika will present the recently published National Cyber Strategy and the strategic role skills development plays in it. Members of the DCMS skills development team will be in attendance at the event to learn more of the innovative skills development activities underway in the SW and to listen to what industry, academia, education and more importantly, students and those seeking a career change, need to engage in this sector.
Uniquely for a conference of this kind, speakers will partner with a young person or recently reskilled individual, either in education or recently in work in the sector, to provide a perspective on their needs in the context of the conference talks. The event showcases some of the innovative educational pilots here in the SW and brings in industry to talk about the changing needs of the sector and how they are facilitating support for those seeking work in this sector.
The event is hosted at Plymouth University on 23rd March and will be streamed online too.

The event is organised and managed by the South West Cyber Security Cluster, a not-for-profit organisation that brings together academia, education, industry and individual cyber security skilled practitioners to build an ecosystem of mutual support and learning, with the intent of making the SW a safer place to do business and to help digital businesses and innovators thrive.
