Restaurant enthusiasts recently had a chance to indulge in an exclusive evening of culinary excellence at the St Enodoc Hotel pop-up event, hosted at Cloisters Restaurant in St Austell.
In a unique collaboration, celebrated chef Guy Owen and his team from St Enodoc Hotel,
collaborated with aspiring chefs from Cornwall College St Austell, part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG).
Together, they created a special dining experience featuring locally sourced ingredients that showcase the rich & diverse flavours of Cornwall, including a four-course meal with petit fours and coffee.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Guy Owen said: “Working with Cornwall College’s aspiring chefs in this way is such an exciting prospect for our team. Being able to work directly with the industry’s future is vital to ensure expansion and passion continues to grow.
“Bringing our fine dining restaurant, Karrek, to St Austell gives us a chance to showcase our greatest passion, Cornwall. From the fish and meat, to the flour we use in our bread, we want guests to experience the best that Cornwall has to offer while educating and teaching the students on our ethics and techniques,” explained Guy.
Commenting on the success of the event, Alan Holloway, study programme manager for patisserie, said: “It’s a tremendous learning opportunity for our students to collaborate with a renowned chef like Guy Owen.”
“This hands-on experience allows them to apply their skills in a real-world setting and gain valuable insights into the culinary industry. Guy’s team has already taken on some of our cookery students and we look forward to working with the team at St Enodoc in the future,” continued Alan.
Steve Rudd, study programme manager for professional cookery, emphasised: “This is a fantastic chance for local diners to experience delicious local produce, prepared by professional and aspiring chefs. With the combined expertise of Guy Owen’s culinary mastery and the fresh perspectives brought by our students, guests can expect great innovation and creativity.”
Caron Walwyn, study programme manager for hospitality added: “This is a great experience for the learners to be part of and be involved with professional chefs in our region.”
