Following an unprecedented and challenging year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, City College Plymouth is delighted to announce that its students have gone above and beyond to achieve an overall pass rate of 98.2% in their BTEC and other vocational courses.
For its BTEC qualifications, the College saw a pass rate of 97%, with areas such as business, science and sport seeing a large number of diplomas enjoying 100% pass rates. OCR qualifications saw a 100% pass rate across the board, including the Extended Diploma in Sport and the Extended Diploma in IT, both of which are equivalent to three A Levels.
Core Maths, which is a brand-new level 3 qualification for those with a grade 4/C or above in maths looking to gain more practical maths skills, also enjoyed a 100% pass rate.
Ben Manning, Deputy Principal, said: “City College offers an extensive range of vocational courses that are designed to ensure our students enter their chosen professions with the necessary skills to succeed either in employment or higher education.
“We are proud of how our students persevered with their studies following the move to online learning, and we congratulate all our students who are receiving their results. With many facing great difficulties to overcome the challenges of these unprecedented times, we have been impressed by their dedication to their studies.
“We wish them every success for the future whatever their next steps might be.”
The College is providing a remote Exam Results Advice Service for the remainder of August to help support both current and prospective students navigate their next steps, which could include progressing on to one of the College’s university-level qualifications.
