The MBA Speaker Series runs monthly at the University of Exeter and brings to the fore noteworthy and inspiring speakers looking at issues that address the major challenges confronting business and society.

The Exeter MBA invites you to the second guest lecture in the MBA Speaker Series for academic year 2019/20:

“Moving to a zero carbon future – what is the story that we need to hear?” by Dr Fiona McNae, CEO of Space Doctors

This talk will provide insights on the field of semiotics, how language and effective communication are an important part of changing behaviour. Fiona will explore how people at large are perceiving the idea of sustainability, the guilt, the fear, the helplessness or the positivity.

Her talk seeks to help us better understand how the climate crisis and sustainability are being understood through the stories which are being told. Shaping these narratives can encourage positive action and positive change.

In a world of noise, with conflicting and competing messages Fiona explains why we need to be really smart with our communications in order to influence behaviour.

Space Doctors are experts in helping organisations and brands connect more deeply with culture so they become more meaningful, relevant and impactful. They seek to inspire and shape how brands show up in the world by using insights unearthed through semiotics, cultural analysis, ethnography, trends, design and consumer research. Space Doctors work at helping to solve the toughest questions through thoughtful, provocative conversations that challenge standard ways of thinking, opening up possibility and paths forward. Join us for an insightful evening where Fiona will be sharing her work in order for us all to engage with future forward thinking.
