PEMC Industrial Solutions Event Series

Date:
07/02/2019

TIME: 9:30 am — 1:30 pm
VENUE: University of Plymouth, Rolle Building, Drake Circus, Plymouth, PL4 6EQ
PRESENTED BY: University of Plymouth

Following on from the success of the first event of the series held on 15 November 2018, featuring SW Metal Finishing Ltd, Ramer Sponges Ltd and Innovate UK, PEMC is proud to welcome two of our industrial partners from the aerospace sector to explain how they have used electron microscopy (including the 3D capability of the new FIB-SEM) to understand their products’ materials better.

MB Aerospace is an international company which manufactures aero-engine components for the aerospace and defence industry. Composite Innovations Ltd is a Devon-based company specialising in the development of innovative materials for the aerospace sector – and has already used our new FIB-SEM (focussed ion beam, scanning electron microscope).

Designed to be informative, relevant and useful in terms of practical analysis, each of our Industrial Solutions events are packed with information to inspire.  For example, Josie Gough from Innovate UK will be sharing the latest funding opportunities available from the Government to enable innovation (including Industrial Strategy Challenge Funds, open R&D funding competitions, innovation loans and KTPs).

Join us from 09.30 on Thursday 7 February to find out how understanding the nano-structure of your products’ materials can make a real difference to your company in terms of new product development, improved products and processes and improved productivity.

AND – if you are a Devon SME, you can find out whether your company is eligible to join the 15 other companies we have already supported on our new ERDF-funded FIB-SEM, which brings 3D capability to PEMC (through the Plymouth Materials Characterisation Project).

Bookings are now being taken or for more information, please visit our website or contact Claire Pearce on 01752 588908 or 07713 082079.

The PEMC Industrial Solutions event series is funded by ERDF and actively supported by Innovate UK, UKRI, ZEISS and the University’s own Research & Innovation team – and each future event in the series will focus on a particular sector, designed to make your experience as relevant and useful as possible:
