Role models are so important which is why the South West Business Council team was delighted to be part of the Diversity Business Incubator Grand BAME Gala Awards.

DBI do an amazing job highlighting the great work of Black Asian and Minority Ethnic businesses and entrepreneurs in and around Plymouth and we are really proud to partner with them and in having their Managing Director Jabo Butera part of our board.

The SWBC needs to be the voice of the business community in the South West in all its diversity. Being part of the award celebrations with the DBI team and the winners, including the recipient of our sponsored Fintech category, Jones Oviawe, was a truly inspiring occasion.

SWBC CEO Paul Coles said: “We are dedicated to supporting businesses like the DBI who are striving to make a different in the South West; supporting budding entrepreneurs, championing successes and promoting diversity and economic prosperity. Congratulations to Jones and the other winners and thanks again to Jabo and the team for a fantastic night.”

Jones Oviawe, winner of the Fintech Award, said: “It was extremely humbling and motivating to be granted this award. It gave me extra strength and determination to push through the challenges that lay ahead of me as a member of the BAME community in the South West”
