As part of its efforts to support local people as the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the economy, City College Plymouth is offering a range of distance learning courses that are free for anyone aged 19 and over.

Across the globe, demand for health and social care workers continues to grow and here in the South West, a £450million boost to help develop a more integrated care system is expected to see the demand for skilled workers increase. The College’s suite of health and social care distance learning courses is perfect for those thinking of entering this rewarding sector or for those already working in a health or social care role who wish to develop or diversify their skills.

Created by the NCFE (formerly known as the Northern Council for Further Education) these level two certificates are delivered entirely online and can be completed at a time that best suits the individual. Students will be fully supported by a member of the College’s Care curriculum team and will receive a formal qualification on completion.

Claire Jones, Academy Manager for Healthcare, said: “The health and social care sector offers the prospect of rewarding, lifelong careers. We have a wide range of courses that cover many areas of this vital sector, from supporting tenants in social housing, to caring for people with cancer. We also have courses that would suit those who wish to work in supporting children or the elderly, many of which might be of interest to parents or people caring for elderly relatives.

“Employers of those working in health and social care might also like to take advantage of these free courses that provide quality continued professional development opportunities.”

All of the health and social care distance learning courses are free for those aged 19 and older with no eligibility requirements, and there is no limit on the number of courses a person can complete.
