You will have noticed a few changes happening and we are pleased to confirm Clive’s, your favourite vegetarian pie-maker have officially gone vegan! That’s right, our entire range is now fully plant-based. It was a small change for us to make, updating just one last recipe to make all products we produce 100% vegan, but it has already had some big changes for our little bakery in Devon.
As you know we’ve been baking pies for over 30 years. In the last decade alone, the number of people identifying as vegan has increased by 350% and we’ve seen considerable growth in the number of customers coming to us for easy, delicious, plant-based options. We’ve been growing over the last year as we welcomed thousands of new pie-lovers to our fanbase country-wide. And of course, we’re still the number one pie choice for most independent health food stores, who have been loyal customers right from the start.
Owner of Clive’s Sally Carson said, “This is a really exciting time for us. We’d been wanting to make the change for a while, and now that we’ve done it – it feels amazing. I went vegan myself over three years ago and it just felt like the next logical step for the business. We’ll still be small-batch baking using organic, sustainably sourced ingredients, but now customers can tuck in knowing everything is purely plants.”
The next big change for Clive’s is a move from our old bakery in Buckfastleigh to new larger premises in Dartmouth. We’ve been baking from the 6,000sqft bakery based in an old woollen mill since we first started over 30 years ago, so it will be a fond farewell! As ever though, we’re full of excitement and can’t wait to get into our new purpose-built factory and bake more pies!
Clive’s Director Esther Pearson, who is also vegan, said, “We’ve been hard at work updating our recipes, and refreshing our packaging to re-launch our now totally plant-based range. As always, we’ve done everything with care and consideration for the planet to give people all of the taste and none of the waste. As you would expect our packaging is still minimal, recyclable and compostable and we’re committed to our organic GMO & pesticide free ingredients.”
