More than 3,000 visitors are expected to descend on Duchy College, Stoke Climsland for its annual Open Day and Summer Food Festival.
Held on Sunday 23rd June, from 10am until 4pm, the countryside extravaganza offers a fun family day out with activities including archery, a climbing tower, and tractor and trailer rides to the farm.
People will also be able to meet the animals, watch equine displays, take part in a digger driving challenge, check out the rifle shooting range, have their health and fitness tested or enter a dog show.
Lots of local food producers will be selling their products at the picturesque Duchy College Home Farm near Stoke Climsland. Entry to the event is £5 per car.
Head of Campus at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland Jamie Crisp, said last year more than 3,000 people visited the campus for the event.
“It was lovely to see so many families taking the opportunity to explore what Duchy College has to offer and enjoying a picnic in the sunshine and this year we are hoping for more of the same,” he added.
The food festival this year is along the lines of a street festival and there will be lots of interesting stalls to explore both inside and outside before deciding what to stock the kitchen up with.
“Those interested in finding out about the courses on offer at Duchy College will be able to talk to lecturers, tour the specialist facilities and get the advice they need to kick start their future career,” Jamie continued.
“The college offers both full and part-time courses, apprenticeships and university courses, in agriculture, animal management, construction plant, equine studies, food, gamekeeping, land based engineering, outdoor pursuits, public services, sport and foundation learning.”
This event is also a good opportunity to find out about local suppliers and the plough to plate message; but don’t forget your wallet, there will be loads of tasty treats to enjoy!
There will also be an Open Day with free family activities run at Duchy College’s Rosewarne campus on the same day.
